Clustered around a natural sandstone outcrop, accommodation at the centre has been designed to enhance the Alpine feel that the rocks create. Established in 1961, Bowles is located in the Wealden countryside five miles from Tunbridge Wells with London just an hour away by rail or road.

From its original focus as a non-profit making charity dedicated to developing young people, Bowles has broadened out to cater also for individuals on recreational skills development courses and for organisations, providing courses to meet a wide range of people development needs.

In all these areas, Bowles stands out as a quality provider of learning by experience for young people, for adults and for organisations.

Safety is of course, paramount. In all situations, we are very conscious of our responsibility to maintain the highest possible standards of safety. There is a comprehensive list of safety precautions which parents and organisers are welcome to inspect.

Our staff are mature and extremely well qualified - a list of staff and their qualifications is available on request. Quality is uppermost throughout. Bowles is approved by the British Association of Snowsports Instructors, the British Canoe Union and the British Orienteering Federation and complies with all adventure activity licensing requirements. We hold ISO 9001- the International Quality Standard and are recipients of a National Training Award.
